Hulk smash.
That's really all you need to know. After months upon months of the intrigue, flip-flop characterization, and wildly inconsistent action of Civil War and The Initiative, the Marvel Universe has been fused together once more (at least temporarily), this time facing off against a very angry Incredible Hulk.
And the old saying's very true--you won't like him when he's angry. Rather, the denizens of the Marvel Universe, especially those living on Manhattan, won't like him very much. Racing in from outer space, he lands in the center of the city, after issuing a warning and smacking around Black Bolt on the moon, and people pretty much flee for their lives.
So they may not like him, but we like him just fine. Greg Pak's Planet Hulk epic over in the green goliath's main title was a unique phenomenon in the annals of the Hulk. It took him off-planet to another globe, where he became an alien Conan of sorts, battling his way through an oppressive regime before becoming emperor himself and finding love with a fellow warrior. Unfortunately, it all literally went "boom" when the ship that crash-landed the Hulk onto Sakaar exploded, taking a large portion of the planet's populace with it and Hulk's wife.
Now the Hulk is back, and he's pissed, and if that's not enough to get you excited, why the hell are you reading comics? Stir in more sharp writing from Pak and pencils by the dynamic John Romita Jr. and you've got a recipie for ass-kicking.
