Fables is the most interesting book currently in production, in my oponion. I think Bill Willingham does an amazing job of removing the expected from his story lines, it is almost like the whole story gets a full revamp every 25 issues. As soon as you think you know what is going on BAM something changes.

I’d fallen, mostly, out of touch with Vertigo comics, which would be a surprise to my 20-something self, who read anything and everything Vertigo in the 90s. But with Y the Last Man ending, my better half – my girlfriend, not my 20-something self, just in case you were confused by this awkward sentence – was desperate for something new to read. One a whim, I got her Fables in TPB form. And we both can’t get enough of it. So, hello Vertigo… I’ve missed you.

This is one of my favorite comics currently in production. The characters, story, pacing, are all wonderful. Makes me wonder what ever happened with Coventry. It was a great 3 issues, and then I never saw it again :(.

When it comes to comic book geeks we think something like Grant Morrison’s run on Doom Patrol is a masterpiece but what are true masterpieces are titles that transcend the hobby to appeal to people other than aficionados of the hobby. A testament to the series is that it appeals to people that don’t normally follow comic books. This will go down in comics history as one of the top comic books in the industry if not the best.
