Retailer Incentives - Dropping SATURDAY May 26, 4PM EST!

Info for first-timers:

Retailer Incentives – These are alternate covers with ratios like 1:10, 1:25, 1:50, etc. These are NOT available by using the ‘sub all covers’ feature. Any we get are sold at cover prices on the (beta) incentive page – http://heavyink.com/comic/incentive_covers – which usually goes live sometime on Friday per this thread’s title.

Hey folks, we’ll be turning the retailer incentive page on on Thursday instead of today – the F5ing is hammering a little too hard on the server, making receiving inventory and processing your shipments a little too difficult.

This means stuff you buy won’t ship out this week, but either next week, or your next shipment as dictated by your shipping preferences.

UPDATE: Because we’re going to be running shipping again on Thursday to cover some missed shipment, we’re going to have to do all our F5ing on Friday. So, I’m still accepting suggestions as to time-of-day for a while longer.

What time Thursday will it be turned on?

All orders or just incentives won’t ship?

Were will we find the incentive page once it’s up? Will it be a tab? I’m sure you probably had this discussion before, but I can’t find it. Serves me right for not checking in more.

Sorry, this is the first mention of this – Travis and I had a discussion about it last week, but none of you guys were at the taqueria!

Shipment processing will happen as usual on Wednesdays (actually, I think Suz might be starting to charge cards on Tuesday nights? Not sure.), but since you won’t be buying incentives until Thursday, they won’t go into this week’s shipments, since those will have already been processed.

Nothing’s changing about the incentive page (location, etc) except when we turn it on.

Thinking about it, this new variant procedure is really going to make me think about what variants I try for. I don’t always want 2 of the same issue. If I sub to, for example, Batman and Batman #3 is bought and paid for on Tuesday/Wednesday, I probably won’t try for a 1:10 Batman variant on Thursday. Now 1:25 or higher, maybe.

I guess if I really have my heart set on a particular variant, but don’t want both the regular sub and the variant, I should cancel the sub for that month, try for the variant on Thursday, and if I don’t get it, buy a regular copy from the cart.

That sounds like a reasonable approach – I’m sorry we have to do this, but it’s really hitting the server too hard. This is probably temporary, btw – at some point (six months out? not sure, things slip, unexpected things come up) Travis is hoping to migrate to a more robust hosting solution, and we may be able to do this on Tuesdays again, after that’s accomplished (accomplishing it will be, as they say, non-trivial).

So is there a known time when the page will be turned back on Thursday, or should I spend all day f5ing. Just want to plan ahead, you know incase I have to buy the blue pills. Not as young as I used to be.

It’s all the same to me – if folks have preferences, lay ’em on me!

My preference would be either 7AM or 8PM your time. (oh and to let me get on 15 minutes before everyone else ;-) JK). Just my preference I am open to whatever, I just want to know a time so I don’t have to be paranoid/checking all day.

My vote is that the page should be turned on at 4am.

Honestly, all this “newness” is making me rather uncomfortable. Anyway, if we have to do it Thursdays, can it be later in the morning and consistently at the same time every week? The inconsistency drives me bonkers and as for time preference, no earlier than 10:00 AM EST would be fantastic.

@Tess – yes, it can certainly be at the same time every week, and no early that 10AM EST is certainly appealing to me, too.

I AGRRE with BAST…I also would try for variant then if failed would buy regular cover .

Thusday, anytime, as long as it’s regular is fine. Actually…with Wed being comics day…having something else to look forward to is kinda nice. Variant Thursday!
